Intel selects MindShare as the sole training organization to develop courses and train customers on the new Intel QuickPath Interconnect (QPI) Technology and Intel Core (Nehalem) Processor (8/19/2008)

TRADE NEWS: MindShare Announces Development of Intel® QuickPath Interconnect Courseware and Intel® CoreTM Microarchitecture (Nehalem) Based Processor Courseware

SAN FRANCISCO, California,  August 19, 2008 – MindShare, Inc. today announced that in collaboration with Intel Corporation, it will develop two courses: 1) Intel® QuickPath Interconnect and 2) Intel® CoreTM Microarchitecture (Nehalem) Based Processor. These courses will be available for delivery to customers during Q1 and Q2 2009 timeframe respectively.

We’re happy to collaborate with MindShare on courses for both the Intel QuickPath Interconnect and Intel Core Microarchitecture (Nehalem).  As both technologies move from introduction to wide industry adoption in the ecosystem we will need training on the features and benefits which MindShare can provide,” said Jeff Casazza, interconnect technology marketing manager at Intel Corporation.

The modern PC architecture will be revolutionized with the advent of Intel’s latest generation of processors. Communication bottlenecks between processors as well as processor-to-chipset will be eliminated with the replacement of the former processor bus (commonly referred to as the Front-Side Bus) with the latest generation high-speed, low-latency point-to-point Intel QuickPath Interconnect. This new inter-processor and processor-chipset interconnect will allow for seamless integration and connection of multiple processors with the chipset.

Intel’s next generation of multi-core, dynamically scalable microprocessors are based on Intel Core Microarchitecture (Nehalem). These processors will also support within the same package a DRAM controller which provides a low latency interface to leading memory technologies such as DDR3 DRAMs. Servers typically include multi-processor configurations and utilize the Intel QuickPath Interconnect for inter-chip communication.  As a result, Intel® architecture will evolve from one with a centralized memory architecture to a more distributed NUMA memory architecture where the access to the system DRAM is spread between the local access of the processor’s the integrated memory controller and to remote processor’s memory via interconnect fabric.

"MindShare has been developing and delivering both system and processor architecture courses since the advent of the 8088 processor," said Ravi Budruk, business development manager at MindShare, Inc. “MindShare is in a unique position to continue its tradition of developing and delivering engaging training on next generation Intel processor buses and architectures such as the Intel QuickPath Interconnect and Intel Core Microarchitecture (Nehalem).”

“MindShare has also authored an industry acclaimed series of technical books and eBooks such as The Unabridged Pentium 4. These books describe the architecture of multiple generations of Intel microprocessors ranging from the Intel 386TM to the Pentium® 4 processor,” said Don Anderson, vice-president of Mindshare, Inc. “MindShare Press will also publish books related to the Intel QuickPath Interconnect and Intel Core Microarchitecture (Nehalem).”

“So that we may offer the flexibility in training delivery and multiple price points required by our clients, MindShare is now moving into the eLearning training space”, said Tom Shanley, president and CEO of MindShare, Inc. “In addition to our well-known live classroom delivery, we now offer our clients courses delivered via the web in a virtual classroom environment as well as via downloadable interactive eLearning modules.”

Mindshare staff will be available for discussions, Q&A, and demos at the Intel Developer Forum (IDF), August 19 – 21, 2008 in San Francisco, Moscone Center West at both the Agilent Technologies and Ellisys technology showcase booths.
